Milltek 3", non-resonated.

Eventually to be paired with a resonated + catted downpipe.

do you really think you'll need a resonator on top of a cat and a muffler?

As a 4-banger owner, yes! They rasp so bad without resonators, the more the merrier! Although 1 with a cat and muffler should do the trick.

I'm assuming that the above video is of the exhaust pictured with no resonator? If so, then set it up exactly how they have it because it sounds awesome, if a little loud in the cabin.

I guess you have a point there

Yep, non-resonated catback with a resonated/catted downpipe.

Huh? Are you going to set it up as is with no resonator? Or are you going to add a resonator after the cat?

Please don't do this. Four bangers don't sound good, so please don't amplify it. For all the arguments in favor of a good, torquey four banger, the noise they make certainly isn't one of them.

Pretty much every aftermarket downpipe available for the R is available with or without a resonator and with or without a cat. I would pair a resonated and catted downpipe with the non-resonated catback. The resonator in the downpipe would be small, but sufficient to reduce drone.

Oh I get it now. I got confused when you said catback and downpipe and didn't separate the two. The resonator on the downpipe has got to be really small unless the cat is pretty far back. When I was working at VW I never looked at the exhaust on a 2,0T, only the TDI, which has five hundred cats and exhaust after treatments (okay it actually has four or five but that's a lot).
